If you would would like me to supervise your project, email me to arrange an appointment where we can flesh out some ideas.
A mini Semantic Web project might comprise the following:
- Review the fundamentals of Semantic Web technologies.
- Review data standards for a particular purpose or topic that you are interested in (e.g. for email you might look at the RFCs 561, 680, 724, 733, 822, 2822 & 5322 ).
- Investigate and design an RDFS or OWL schema that models typical data from your area of interest.
- Implement a data extraction and transformation system to remodel some sample data using your schema.
- Discuss how (or if) this alternative data model can allow novel use of the data that might not previously have been possible.
- Assess the suitability of your model (for what purposes and in what circumstances is it useful).
- Describe what you hoped to achieve compared to what you were able to achieve. What would you do differently now? What can be done next – i.e. how should you, or someone else wanting to do more, approach the problem?
